Long recognized as the leader of the Pittsburgh Jewish community, members and Rabbis of Rodef Shalom have always been committed to improving the lives of others. From our earliest days, our temple has set the standard for being a congregation whose members share themselves with others generously.
Today, Rodef Shalom is Pittsburgh’s leading congregation in the fight against hunger. We co-sponsor the Empty Bowls fundraiser in support of the Community Food Bank and Just Harvest, conduct food drives throughout the year collecting thousands of pounds of food to be given to the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry, and support MAZON.
Rodef Shalom also champions LGBT rights and marriage equality, and promotes the inclusion of persons with disabilities. We partner with a congregation in Ukraine, a youth village in Israel which helps vulnerable children, and a relief organization in Haiti that responds to poverty and the effects of natural disasters.
Rodef Shalom is a member of the Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network and East End Cooperative Ministry.
