Rodef Shalom Sisterhood is an organization of over 500 dynamic and diverse women. Our mission is multidimensional. First and foremost, we provide programs and services that interest and sustain our membership. We also contribute to the lifeblood of the congregation by supporting its social, spiritual, educational, financial and philanthropic needs. Finally, we fulfill a role in the greater Jewish community.
Take a little time for yourself to see what we’re about. We offer programs during the daytime, in the evenings, and even Sunday mornings to allow busy professionals and women with families to get involved. All women who are members of Rodef Shalom are always welcome to become a part of Sisterhood.
Our board, with over forty committees, meets on a monthly basis. Jewish learning is promoted through our Book Review Series, Lunch and Learn events, Lunches with the Rabbi, Rosh Chodesh (New Month) Discussion Group, a Women’s Passover Seder, and a Women’s Shabbaton and Retreat. Our social needs are met throughout the year with creative programs which have included movie and ice cream nights, trips to museums and theater events, and a special evening at Sephora.
Many volunteers help us to contribute to maintaining a high standard of congregational life. Sisterhood provides flowers for all Shabbat and holiday services though donations to its Floral Fund. Temple’s library needs are provided through donations to Sisterhood’s Remembrance Fund. Sisterhood helps to sponsor the Kiddush following each Shabbat service. The Gift Corner at Rodef Shalom, Monday Bridge games, and our Sewing Workshop provide the means for us to lend our financial support.
Our philanthropic activities, including a tutoring program, providing meals for families with kids at Children’s Hospital, and World Union activities, are supported through our volunteers.
