And so, as Reform Jews, we have no choice but to respond and help.”

The Union for Reform Judaism’s Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund: The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) has raised over $1 million towards direct relief to victims of the hurricane and relief to our sister congregations affected by the storm. Make your donation via the website: Jacob’s Ladder: A Relief Project of the URJ. This effort is a partnership of the town of Utica, MS, the Union and Jacobs Camp. Jacobs Camp is operating a staging and distribution center for relief supplies. We will be sending boxes to Jacobs Camp directly from Rodef Shalom. Right now the most urgent needs are bedding, non-perishable food, medical supplies (OTC drugs, first aid kits), hygiene products and baby supplies (diapers, formula, wipes, and bottles). For a complete list, please visit the website. Gift Cards: You may purchase gift cards which will be distributed to rabbis in communities serving those who have been displaced. Stores include Lowes, Target and Wal-Mart. Please visit the website for a complete list and directions for making this type of donation. As needs continue to change, visit us on the web at www.rodefshalom.org for updated information.
